Book Group Kits To Go is a resource-sharing program of the Farmington Public Library in which local book groups and libraries statewide may borrow book kits from us. The book kits include past reads of our Book Groups, and past Reel Readers program materials.
All book groups must request the Book Group Kit to Go from the Farmington Public Library by filling out and submitting the request form. This is not a guarantee that the kit you request is available on the date you prefer. You must receive a separate confirmation for each submission. If you do not receive a confirmation email within a few days, please contact the Farmington Public Library. Kits can be requested no more than 11 months in advance.
Book Groups and Reel Readers kits are comprised of 13 books and a discussion guide for the borrowing library to copy. Reel Readers kits also include a DVD. Use of the DVD requires obtaining public performance rights to show in your local library. A company that provides public performance rights is Movie Licensing U.S.A., who can be found through Swank Motion Pictures.
All materials are the property of Farmington Public Library. The cost of return postage (if applicable) is the only requirement for participation in Book Group Kits To Go program. Participating libraries may be asked to mail the books to the next requesting library, rather than returning the kits to Farmington Public Library. We request reimbursement for lost or damaged books or DVDs.
*Book Group kits require fourteen (14) days for processing before they can be shipped or picked up*. Please budget 21-28 days between your request and your preferred delivery or pickup date, to allow for the 14 day processing window, and possible delays in processing and/or shipping. We do not rush Book Group Kits to Go.
LOCAL BOOK GROUPS:
For book groups in San Juan County wishing to borrow book kits, we require a one-time meeting at the Farmington Public Library. Liaison must have a Farmington Public Library card in good standing. After this meeting, your group may borrow sets of books for a 3-month period. The book kits include discussion questions for your group to copy and use as they wish. Local book groups will pick up on Mondays, and the books will be returned to storage if not picked up by Thursday.
NEW MEXICO LIBRARIES:
New Mexico libraries that wish to borrow book kits may contact the Farmington Public Library and have a phone meeting with the book group coordinator. After this meeting, your group may borrow sets of books for a 3-month period. The book kits include discussion questions for your group to copy and use as they wish. All book groups not in San Juan County must go through a library; we do not mail kits to non-library groups.
